Ethanol fuel additives STA BIL
In late January, 2013, I received an e-mail from a lady who operates a public relations firm. She had learned of an article on “E15″ gas which I helped Todd Mason prepare for NOLA.com and the Times Picayune in December, 2012 and asked that I call her. It turns out she had heard of my comments in Todd’s article recommending the use of Marine Formula Sta-Bil if a boater used ethanol fuels. I called her and she informed me that her company does public relations work for Gold Eagle, the company that manufacturers Sta-Bil. She offered to put me in touch with a high level management representative with the Gold Eagle Company. I took her up on her offer as I’ve long been wanting to write a technical article on Marine Formula Sta-Bil regarding what’s in it and how it works.
On February 1st, I had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Tom Bingham, the Marketing Director of Gold Eagle. This gentleman was VERY knowledgeable about “Marine Formula Sta-Bil Ethanol Treatment” and the chemistry behind the product. We spent nearly an hour and a half on a phone conference call discussing the components in Marine Formula Sta-Bil and how they work. Several days later, I began drafting my article from the notes of our conference call. When I was completed editing, reviewing and re-editing, I e-mailed the draft article to the Marketing Director for his technical review. The final article follows. I hope you find it informative and educational. I know I did. The information provided by Mr. Bingham strengthened my already strong belief that “Marine Formula Sta-Bil Ethanol Treatment” is a GREAT product!
NOTE: I was asked by a reader what the shelf life of Marine Formula Sta-Bil Ethanol Treatment is. According to my contact at Gold Eagle (the manufacturer of Sta-Bil), if the bottle is kept in a cool place out of direct sunlight, it should be good for two (2) years before opening. After the bottle is opened, it is good for two (2) years also. Note that there is a place on the back of the bottle’s label to record the date you opened the bottle. It should NOT be used over 2 years after that date.

The only fuel additives needed have been added at the refinery.
Adding additional additives is a waste of money.
